Cyclefoam®

Recycled PVC, a sovereign remedy against noise

Cyclefoam® is an anti-noise barrier developed using a new PVC foam manufacturing process that can extrude high quality profiles from post-consumption waste. With Cyclefoam®, Deceuninck (Belgium) has taken on two environmental challenges. Firstly, the recycling and recovery, in new applications, of used PVC from construction, and secondly, the fight against noise nuisance. Its properties include resistance to corrosion and chemical attack, lightness, ease of installation and implementation and a vast range of colours. Since the presentation of Cyclefoam® at the SolVin Award in 2001, its qualities have proven to be suitable for many applications. Here are a few examples. Noise insulation on several motorways, the highspeed train station in Cologne, an airport on the island of Réunion, a waste water treatment station, a farm pumping station, a joiner’s workshop, a refrigeration installation on a roof, and so on. Moreover, one kilometre of Cyclefoam® anti-noise foam can recycle and re-use the PVC from the demolition of 450 rooms. A success story that has continues to make very little noise!
