Staying warm with foam filled PVC windows

With the cold, gloomy days of winter closing in on us, windows can be the culprit for darkening living quarters and even darker heating bills. Germany’s Aluplast challenges that with ‘Energeto® foam inside’, a metal-free plastic window that’s packed with insulation and weighs less than half the competition.

“The window series Energeto® works without metallic thermal bridges, so it doesn’t need steel reinforcement in the frame-sash construction,’’ Mrs. Gärtner says. ”We use glass fibre reinforced plastic bars inside the profile known as ‘powerdur inside’.’’

Aluplast combines the bonding of the plastic window sash with the insulating glass pane (known as ‘bonding inside’). And voila, a metal-free plastic window!

The latest process technology "foam inside" offers further optimisation by filling the ready bonded  window with highly thermally insulating polyurethane (PUR) foam, making for unbeatable thermal insulation.

With "powerdur inside," Aluplast developed a technology that extrudes glass fibre reinforced plastic directly into the plastic window frame and sash.

‘’That’s why you don’t need steel reinforcement anymore,’’ Mrs. Gärtner says.

By boosting insulation values without the steel, Energeto® helps saving on heating costs and hence contributes actively to the reduction of CO2 emissions. The profiles weigh 60% less than their metal predecessors which has a positive impact on transport costs and facilitates their assembly.

And here’s another plus: Energeto® windows let in more light because of their slimmer sash profile.

How do they do it? The system can be combined with the patented filling of the ready bonded window element with a special polyurethane (PUR) insulation foam by a precision foam machine. Although the frame can be filled only through one single opening in the profile, the window element is filled completely thanks to the texture and fluidity of the foam.

This technology offers unprecedented insulation values. By this means, Energeto® now makes unimaginable Uw-values (for complete window) of 0,61 w/m²K possible.

And your heating bill can be unprecedentedly reduced as well!
