Gerflor: PVC Flooring with a "click"

Every time we think of home renovation, the mental picture is the same: a nightmare! Dust, solvents, noise and a money pit. Gerflor clearly saw an opportunity to seize on.

A world giant of the flooring industry, the company sought to answer a very simple question: How can you install cost-effective floorings in a quick, clean and effortless way?

A dream made true by Gerflor and its “Creation Click System,’’ an easy-to-install multi-layer loose-lay plank with realistic wood design. It is possible to lay the PVC boards without any adhesives as they are connected together with a “click” system.

“The idea was to put together the best of two worlds”, says Dr. Olivier Ceysson, R&D and Engineering Director of the Gerflor Group. “This product combines the benefits of PVC flooring and hard laminates with many improvements, like the acoustics and comfort of soft vinyl.’’

Ceysson explains that the installation “can be done directly on existing subfloors, with no need of subfloor preparation. As it’s a loose-lay product, you don’t need glue or other adhesives, just a simple hammer, a knife and a tape measure.”

It’s also water-resistant: “It’s 100% non-sensitive to water, much better than laminates, and can be installed on sub-floors with up to 7% of humidity levels.
It’s also easy to remove and to refurbish,” Ceysson says.

Another important aspect of the “Creation Click System” is the alignment with the eco-trends of the market. “The concept of eco-responsibility was fully integrated in the design of this flooring. It is 100% recyclable, does not contain any formaldehyde and the absence of solvents during installation makes our product fully compliant with the strictest European standards for indoor air quality.”

Just like wood, it’s warm underfoot. And here’s a plus for the neighbors downstairs:

‘’Our tests indicated 12dB of sound improvement compared to hard laminate”, says Ceysson.

“Creation Click” is made in Europe and sales just started on the flooring market for indoor applications. Since this product is a hybrid of PVC and laminate flooring, both markets represent several hundred millions of square meters/year, what generates high expectations for the future.
