Graffiti is a general problem in our society. Once applied onto walls, plastics, wood, etc. these substances are very difficult to get rid off. The same goes for graffiti on PVC coated polyester substrates. Since graffiti paints are all based on aggressive solvents, PVC coated textiles (e.g. trailer covers, tents & textile architectures, train covers, banners, etc.) are irreversibly damaged due to the penetration of its ingredients into the substrate. As a spin-off activity within the European project CONTEX-T, Sioen has developed a unique lacquer that can withstand these aggressive graffiti paints. This lacquer, which is based on advanced copolymeric species, can be applied by coating or spraying and results in an excellent barrier to all kinds of graffiti paints.
